How cupping works? Before placing the cups, the practitioner uses heat to burn the oxygen inside the cup so that it creates a vacuum which causes the cup to have suction. Alternatively, the therapist can use plastic cups from which the air is sucked with a pump. From an anatomical point of view, this suction separates the muscle and fascia layers underneath and draws blood to the surface.
From a TCM perspective, cupping has the following effects:
🔥 Regulates blood (and Qi) flow, breaking up stagnation and blockages
🔥 Strengthens immunity
🔥 Relieves pain
🔥 Accelerates skin metabolism and the activity of sweat and sebaceous glands
🔥 Cleans the surface from toxic substances
🔥 Helps eliminate pathogen (at the beginning of a cold/flu)
🔥 Regulates lymphatic system
🔥 Eliminates muscle spasms around the affected joint
🔥 Increases the secretion of synovial fluid in the joint
🔥 Supports skin regeneration and increases its resistance
